Web Sites

Your web site is your identity. Colors, layout, navigation, and even the size of text on your web site all say something about you or your business. I design using commonly-available themes, first determining colors and patterns, then bringing them together with your images and text to best represent you online. Sometimes I get it right the first time, sometimes the designs need heavy modification, and sometimes we even scrap an idea and start over. No problem. We’ll work until we get it right.

The content on your site, such as text and photos, are easily modified through the software package running your website. This software, called WordPress, requires no installation on your computer and can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. You can keep blogs, maintain your content, and even check your site visitation trends.

How do I get my own website?

The process of building a website is broken down into five steps.

1. Contact me.
2. Choose your domain name.
3. Sit back and relax while I build you a custom web site. If you like it we’ll proceed to step 3 – if not, I’ll build you more custom websites until I get it right.
4. You and I load your initial data onto your website. This includes the content of your “home” page, photo galleries, contact forms, or anything else you wish to have included.
5. You maintain your data, making updates or changes as necessary, while I maintain the software, keeping your site running in top shape and answering your questions and helping out along the way.

How much does it cost?

I don’t believe in complicated hourly rates or hidden charges. I keep billing as simple as possible, and offer only a few options. That being said, some sites can be more complicated than others. In all but the most extreme cases, the following rates are applied:

• Site development: $300.00 one-time
• Site hosting and support: $300.00 annual
• E-commerce/shopping cart: additional $1000.00 one-time & $500.00 annual
• The cost of your domain name(s) will also be billed annually (generally around $10.00 each)
  

I bill once per year, in December, for the following calendar year. Your first year’s annual cost will be prorated from the beginning of the month following the registration of your domain name and will be immediately due. What that means to you is that you can get your website up and running in no time, and for less than $600.00.
